Sydney ymphony Orchestra at Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre
SEC Presents 2027 Shows.jpeg

In this concert, hear how great composers – Stravinsky, Copland, Schoenberg and HK Gruber – show that less is more, with music for a smaller orchestra that is full of energy and colour.

Schoenberg produces a full symphonic sound with just fifteen instruments while Copland evokes big moods in Quiet City. Stravinsky’s Suites began life on piano before he expanded them to a bigger sound, but you can still hear the notes dancing like fingers on a keyboard. Stravinsky’s mercurial Danses Concertantes is so full of energy and movement it was later turned into a ballet.

Then HK Gruber reanimates the story of Frankenstein’s monster for orchestra and vocalist, setting children’s nursery rhymes to darkly humorous, eclectic music unlike anything you have heard before.

Experience the future of Australian music live at Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, as musicians from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra are joined by our 2027 Fellows for this concert bursting with personality.
